Metchosin's Beautiful Devonian Park

The luxury of living in the Westshore area of Victoria BC is the amount of natural habitat and outdoor parks contained in this diverse area. From lakes to parkland there is always a place to adventure into and you'll either land on a pure sand or cobble stone beaches. Welcome to Metchosin! Enjoy a 15 minute Gentle walk on clear trails through mixed woodland and along a winding creek. Make sure to stop and bird watch at Sherwood Pond. Enjoy an evening stroll on the beach as the sun sets  and bask in the spectacular views of Juan de Fuca Strait, Race Rocks and the Olympic Mountains.

Tucked between Metchosin farmlands, this small nature sanctuary offers a quiet refuge. This 16-hectare conservation area preserves many diverse habitats. By following the main Beach Trail, you will wind through woodlands, broadleaf maple forests and right along past Sherwood Creek, until you emerge to the open coast that steps out onto Taylor Beach. Picnic at the beach and watch evening sunsets & sunrises.
You can continue to explore and follow along the splendid beach paths that are miles long — you might just see inquisitive river otters, harbour seals or even a pod of orcas. On a clear day you can see Victoria, with Mount Baker rising in the background.
This is a good bird watching spot, particularly for migrating waterfowl.
If you're on horseback, enjoy the equestrian trail with its view over neighbouring meadows.
